The latest game in the series Spec Ops: The Line, was highly acclaimed for its narrative, based off the novel Heart of Darkness. Almost a year has passed since the last mention of Yager Developments upcoming third person shooter Spec Ops: The Line, and that was a brief line in 2Ks release schedule for 2011-2012. The first two games were well received and the PlayStation and Dreamcast sequels (developed by Runecraft) were more of a budget priced shooter experience, giving them lower review scores. The Spec Ops franchise was intended to introduce a realistic first/third-person shooter experience and immerse the player in a two-man team gameplay. In fact, Take-Two Interactive cited lower-than-expected sales of Spec Ops: The Line as a major factor behind its first-quarter results for FY2013 coming in below expectations.
